  Intro & Overview

Welcome to EnterVOID.com
EnterVOID.com is “pit fighting” for sequential/comic artists. Our goal is to provide an environment for prospective comic artists to sharpen their artistic and story-telling abilities through sequential combat.

User Accounts
Registration for an account is absolutely free. If you have not yet registered, you can do so by clicking here. You do not have to be an artist to have a user account, and anyone who enjoys sequential or comic-style battles is welcome to join. An account will allow you to leave comments on upcoming challenges and submitted battles, and most importantly, vote on battles.

Battles?
Battles are the heart of VOID, allowing artists to challenge one another [FINISH THIS THOUGHT] Voting
Voting on battles is how the fighters receive points, and the fighter with the most points at the end of the voting time will be deemed the winner. Voting is taken very seriously and we ask for all of our users to please vote honestly and fairly. The VOID Council monitors voting; those suspected of cheating will be given 3 warnings. After that, cheaters' IP addresses will be banned from voting all together. We consider biased voting, like giving one fighter all A's and the other all F's, to be cheating. If the fighter receiving the F's honestly deserves it because they did not submit anything, then chances are that the majority of the other votes will reflect this. If not, then the VOID Council gets involved, and will impose restrictions and bans accordingly.

Voting or Rating the battles is broken down into three Categories: Quality, Creativity, and Entertainment. The following is a baseline on what to be aware of when you're rating battles.
Quality: aesthetic value of the art. Try to limit your decision solely on how the battle looks visually. How good the line art is, the use of color (if they're colored), panel layout, etc.
Creativity: the ideas presented in the battle--how unique and different from the norm the battle is. A battle could look very good, and be very entertaining, but if it's just a recycled and redundant idea, then the Creativity score should be low. Inversely, a battle may be drawn poorly, and be very dull, but if the concepts and ideas are totally original, then it should get a high score for Creativity.
Entertainment: the writing or the scripting of the battle; the artist’s ability to tell a story visually. If you were bored, or inversely completely satisfied with the battle, rate accordingly.

forum
The forum is open to all, artists and art fans alike. Of course you can chose whatever names you like, but for the sake of clarity and ease, please keep the same name on both your user account and your forum account. If you are considering submitting a fighter, then post your fighter’s images in the forum. This is a good way to find out what people think, prior to having to do all the work for a full on fighter submission. If you want The Council to review your fighter prior to a full submission, all you need to do is ask.
Also at 50 posts you will be able to create a custom Title for yourself. That can be changed using the Control Panel under personal info.

VOID City
VOID City was never part of the original plan for VOID. Rather, it was formed and created by the artists in their battles. The City is based loosely on all major cities—-over-crowded, dirty, a high crime rate, and very little trees or natural vegetation. for the most part it is set in the not too distant future. By and large it is very similar to present day with the addition of some futuristic elements, like alien species, sentient robots, and the occasional flying car, or futuristic gadget.
VOID City is also the setting for the events that take place in Story Mode, as the chapters progress, more of the City will be fleshed out, and more Non Player Characters (NPCs) will be created to give the City inhabitants that are not just fighters.

Fighter Submisions

Requirements
You will need a Win Pose, a Lose Pose, a detailed Design Sheet of your fighter, and a two page sequential introduction of your fighter. You will do this by logging on, going to the Manager, clicking on “Create a Fighter”, and uploading your work thusly. Only finished works will be accepted. Your poses and intro pages do not have to be colored, but no roughs, pencils, or placeholders will be accepted. However, the Design Sheet does need to be in color, since it will be the primary image others use to reference your fighter. Submit your fighter only when you have everything ready - don't assume that you can just update the poses with finished ones later. Remember that the poses and intro pages will be the first impression that other artists and the community will judge you by, so make it a positive first impression. Once you have submitted all the required work, the VOID Council will determine if your fighter is good enough to be allowed into VOID. Please keep in mind that the VOID Council’s final decision may take a week or two depending on the severity of the Council's schedules.

Win Pose
The win pose should be no larger than 800 pixels high by 800 pixels wide. The win pose should illustrate your fighter as the victor of the battle (much like the poses in many fighting video games, for example).

Lose Pose
The lose pose should be no larger than 800 pixels high by 800 pixels wide. The Lose pose should illustrate your fighter as the loser of the battle (much like the poses in many fighting video games, for example).

Design Sheet
The most important non-sequential piece you will submit. It is pure reference material for other artists so they can accurately portray your fighter! Your fighter's Design Sheet should be no larger than 800 pixels wide, but may be as high/long as you need. Please try to keep the image under 300K for users that are on slower Internet connections. Your Design Sheet should be a static standing pose of your fighter from the front, the back, the side (if necessary), and close ups of any details you feel are important such as tattoos, emblems on jackets, specific scars, having only 4 fingers, etc. The more you have to show, the better. Coloring of your fighter is MANDATORY, even if you color nothing else.

Two Page Intro
Each page should be no wider than 800 pixels, but can be as high as you need. Please try to keep the image under 300K for users that are on slower Internet connections. The sequential intro pages should illustrate just a brief portion of either your fighter's origin, or their arrival at VOID City. This does not have to be epic, or a full story. You are more than welcome to continue the story in the bio, or illustrate parts of the bio in your intro. The main reason for the intro is to show your present skill at sequential art, and so all challengers and other artists will know what to expect in your battles when they challenge you. You have direct control over how you will be perceived by the community.

Bio
This should be a written account of your fighter, how they think, where they are from; a description so that other artists will be able to script your fighter accordingly. If they write your fighter doing things or acting in ways that you don't like or agree with, and you didn't mention anything in the bio, then you have no right to complain. Listing/naming moves that your fighter can do like in a fighting game are okay, but unless you give detailed explanations of the moves with links to your own web site illustrating the moves, it remains unhelpful, because only you will know what those names mean. Be complete in your bio so that anyone will instantly know how to properly script your fighter, but by the same token don't write a novel. If you have much to say on the character then you are certainly welcome and encouraged to link to your own site with a complete biography.

Challenges
Issuing and receiving challenges is the foundation of VOID. artists pick their opponents in different ways, but if you are going to issue or accept the challenge, think ahead to what you have on your calendar outside of VOID and whether or not you will have the time to complete the required pages in the given amount of time. No Shows and Defaults are looked on very poorly, and you will get an all F rating on your battle should you not submit anything. This will seriously damage your overall Class as a fighter.

Battles
Once you have accepted a challenge, or your opponent has accepted your challenge, you will have a specified time to complete the given number of pages, starting AT THE TIME THE CHALLENGE WAS ACCEPTED. You will have until Midnight Central Time to submit the battle. When submitting your pages, use the Manager. If you have any difficulties uploading e-mail the pages to the VOID Council. Once the battles go for voting, they will be given one week to collect as many votes as possible. You will not be allowed to vote on your own battles.
There are four different types of battles, Normal, Trophy, Scar and Death. In Normal battles, nothing is on the line other than a win or a loss. In a Trophy Match, a piece of your fighter's clothing, weaponry, or any other item is on the line. Should you lose, the predetermined article is now the property of the victor. In a Scar Match, you must leave a mark or a wound on your opponent. Should you lose a Scar Match, your fighter will be retired and you will not be able to issue or accept any challenges until you submit a new Design Sheet indicating/depicting the new scar. In a Death Match, your fighter’s existence is on the line. Should you lose a Death Match, your fighter is killed, and they cannot be brought back out of retirement. However, you are allowed to submit all new poses, a new design sheets, bio and intro pages for your dead fighter if you would like them to be Undead or a Zombie in some form. The new design and story must reflect their undead transformation. Resubmitting the old images and saying "He's a vampire now" is unacceptable. If your fighter is immortal or cannot be killed, DO NOT ENTER ANY DEATH MATCHES. If they die in a Death Match, it does not matter what your bio says. They are dead in VOID.
